The Pulsetek pulse start system offers up to 100% longer lamp life because of less electrode damage, reduced arc tube darkening, and improved lumen maintenance. When operating on magnetic ballasts, 70% of Pulsetek lamps will still be operating at the end of their rated life, compared to only 50% of traditional metal halide lamps. Pulsetek arc tube chambers have uniform wall thicknesses and shapes as well as identical thermal characteristics, allowing for consistent temperature and colour from lamp to lamp. New lamps need to burn-in for approximately 100 hours before they reach their optimum colour. By combining the formed-body arc tube, ignitor, and a low current crest factor ballast, the system is able to supply faster initial warm-up and hot restrike. Achieve hot restrike in up to 60% less time, which is up to 400% improvement over traditional metal halide!

HID stands for High Intensity Discharge. These lamps produce light by means of heating a gas with an electric arc (as opposed to the incandescent lamp which produces light by electrically heating a solid wire). All HID light sources require auxiliary equipment (such as a ballast, capacitor, and/or ignitor) to provide the appropriate electrical values for starting and operating.
